Is Shakshuka an Israeli or Arab cuisine?

Asked 3 years ago

Since there have been many overlaps in the history of Israeli and Mediterranean food, is Shakshuka originally Israeli or Arab?

Shakshuka (meaning all mixed up) originates from North Africa, Tunisia. It was eaten by the Maghrebi Jews (North African Jews). It became a popular dish in the Middle East because it is affordable, filling and an undemanding meal. It can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
