Church of Saint John the Baptist: When was it built in Ein Karem?
Asked 3 years ago
I'm researching the history in Jerusalem, specifically focusing on the churches. I've found the Church of Saint John the Baptist and the Christian Quarter rather interesting. Can someone tell me more about the Christian Quarter and when the church was built?

The Church of Saint John the Baptist, located in Ein Karem Jerusalem, was built in 1939 over the remains of a 12th century Crusader-era church. This Catholic church was built on top of the cave, which is believed where John the Baptist was born. The Church of Saint John the Baptist belongs to the Franciscan order.
