Was King Herod an Edomite?

Herod's father, Antipater, was by descent an Edomite, whose ancestors had converted to Judaism. Julius Caesar conferred on Herod's father Roman citizenship, an honour that descended to Herod and his children. Herod was of Arab origin, although he was a practicing Jew. He was raised as a Jew. So for nationality, Herod was Roman.
