According to scripture, Jesus had many followers but He chose 12 to walk close by His side whom He could train to build His kingdom after His ascension. They were: Simon (Peter), James, John, Andrew, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon (the Zealot) and Judas Iscariot.
