When reading Revelation 7, we read about an angel with the seal of the living God. He stopped the other angels that were about to harm the land and the sea. He commanded them that the seal must first be placed on the foreheads of the servants of God.
The word 'seal' is derived from the Greek word meaning stamp with a private mark. Five verses in the Bible mention the seal of God:
- John 6:27
- Timothy 2:19
- Revelation 6:9, 7:2, and 9:4.
This seal is also called various names, such as:
- Sigillum Dei
- The seal of God
- Signum Dei Vivi
- The symbol of the living God (Sigillum Di Aemeth)
What the Seal of God Looks Like
Even though the Bible does not give a clear description of what the seal of God looks like, an older source, Liber Juratus, described it as a magical diagram made up of two circles, a pentagram, two heptagons, and one heptagram. It is labeled with the name of God and all his angels.
What Is the Forehead Seal Symbolic of in the Bible?
The seal of God is symbolic of God marking his people to save them from a terrible ordeal. In Biblical times, a seal was put on a document to make it legal. The meaning of the seal of God is to indicate ownership of God’s people. It ensures your everlasting protection and verifies that your relationship with God is real.
Having the seal of God on your forehead gives a blessed vision of what God has in mind for His people. A vision of blessings, protection, and everlasting life with God and all his angels.
