What do I need to know before visiting Jerusalem?
Asked 3 years ago
Is there any dress code in Israel or specifically Jerusalem that we should know? And are there any places that are off-limits to non-religious people? What else should we know about before we land ourselves in trouble?

A few useful things to know before visiting Jerusalem include:
- Dress as you would at home, but pack modest clothes for visiting religious areas.
- Respect areas reserved for certain religions or for men/women only.
- From Friday sundown to Saturday sundown many areas of Jerusalem keep Shabbat which means certain behavior is requred in public places.
Israelis are very friendly, so if you're unsure about how to behave, all you have to do is ask.
