Who opens the first gift on Christmas eve?

I would think that the youngest child should be the one to open the first gift since St. Nicholas gifted children. What Christmas tradition do you follow? Who opens the first gift?

In most homes, the children open the first gifts on Christmas even. However, traditions differ from place to place; this may be different elsewhere, and it doesn't mean it is wrong.
