What does Magi mean in the Bible?
Asked 3 years ago
So I know that they were called the three wise men, but I recently learned that they were also called the Magi. Did this name mean anything in particular in the bible?

The Magi were the three wise men who brought gifts to Jesus Christ when he was born. The words magic and magician are both derived from magus. Now Magi is the plural of magus, and a magus is a wise man or magician. The word 'Magi' may have numerous meanings, but in the Bible, it was used to refer to the three wise men.
