What is the full meaning of the name Emmanuel in the Bible?

In the book Isaiah 7:14, the prophet uses the name, Immanuel for the first time. Translated literally it means God with us. The prophet uses it to signify that God will protect David's house. In the New Testament, it is used again and translated from the Greek text as Emmanuel.
