Myrrh was used in Bible days for embalment. This is the reason most Bible scholars say that Jesus Christ being presented Myrrh at his birth was a prefiguring of his death. However, Myrrh also had other uses, for example, it was an ingredient used in making anointing oil for anointing Kings at that time.
