How long can you keep a live Christmas tree in your house?

If we were to get a live Christmas tree for our house during the festive season, how long would it last, and how do we maintain it for it to last as long as possible?

You can keep your Christmas tree throughout the festive period if you follow the following tips.
Choose a healthy Christmas tree
Make sure your tree has enough water: you do not have to use distilled water or mineral water. Ordinary tap with no additive should be okay.
Keep the tree away from heat sources.
Trim the trunk
Take your tree down before it dries out
