Elisha cursed two youths for making fun of his baldness on his way to Mount Caramel in 2 kings 2:23-25. There are several reasons Elisha could have gone to Mount Carmel.
1. Mount Carmel was a place of solitude. It has caves, it could have been that Elisha just wanted to retire from men to have an sole time with God.
2. Elijah also went to Mount Carmel in 1 kings 18:18-45.
3. Many Bible scholars say that Mount Carmel could have been the home of Elisha. In 2 Kings 4:23-26 when the Shunammite woman was in distress, she knew where to find the prophet as she rode straight to Mount Carmel. This could be an evidence Mount Carmel was the permanent abode of the prophet.
