Why did Daniel refuse to eat the King's food?
Asked 3 years ago
I can imagine it to be disrespectful to refuse a King's offering of food. Why did Daniel not eat as expected to?

Daniel 1:8 "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself." From the above verse, it is clear that Daniel did not want to defile himself with the King's food.
1. It could be that the food contained unclean animals which the Israelites were commanded not to eat.
2. It could be that the wine and food were already sacrificed to idols.
