What country is biblical Ammon today?

The biblical nation of Ammon east of the Jordan River is believed to be in the modern-day Kingdom of Jordan. In the Bible, Rabbah or Rabbath Ammon is the capital of Ammon and would have stood where the Jordanian capital, Amman is located today.

Ammon is an ancient nation in Biblical times first mentioned in Genesis 19:37-38. The Ammonites occupied the east of the Jordan river between Arnon and Jabbok. Modern-day Jordan is where Ammon was originally in Biblical times.
