The tribe of Judah are descendants of the fourth son of Jacob (Israel) named Judah. Along with the tribe of Benjamin, they formed the southern kingdom of Israel. The people of Judah were exiled to Babylon in 586 but later returned to rebuild their nation. They later identified with the other Jewish tribes and were regarded together with the Hebrew nation as the Jews.
