Well, according to research, over four thousand years. Jaffa, the world's oldest seaport, is home to a dynamic multiethnic community of Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
Jaffa has been a port city for more than 4,000 years, according to archaeology and historical archives, and it is from here that Jonah (of Jonah and the Whale) set off from. With various art galleries and studios, the Old Port (also known as Namal Yafo) serves as a sort of artist colony. The views, especially around sunset, are breathtaking.
It serves as a fishing harbor, a yacht harbor, and as a tourism destination.
