How did they cook during biblical times?

In biblical times food was cooked in the open in front of the tent, in the closed courtyards of houses in the cities or the communal living room. They used to eat meat (either roasted or in a stew), bread and pancakes as well as fish (fresh or dried). The fish would have been roasted on fire as well.
