How did the prophet Zechariah die?

I'm just curious as to what happened to the old priest after Jesus was crucified. Did he die before then or after? And how did he die?

There are several biblical figures called Zechariah. Matthew 23:35 tells how the Prophet Zechariah was killed in the Temple courtyard on Shabbat, which was most likely the  Day of Atonement. John the Baptist's father was also called Zechariah. He was killed by Herod's soldiers for refusing to divulge the the wearabouts of his son during the massacre of the innocent.
