What is the biblical story behind the Nimrod Fortress, was it named after Nimrod? Who was he?

The Nimrod's Fortress was built long after the old testament of the Bible was written. The name Nimrod was mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 10:8-9, "And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD." As stated by this passage, Nimrod was just a great hunter and there is no real evidence linking him to the Nimrod's Fortress. However, it is believed by local tradition that Nimrod lived in the same summit where the Nimrod's castle was later built.
