Is olive wood water resistant?
Asked 3 years ago
I want to buy an artisan cross made from olive wood from Bethlehem to put up around my house (possibly outside). Do you know if olive wood is waterproof?

The natural oils in olive wood make it water-resistant. Add to that the coat of finishing oils and waxes that usually cover store-bought olive wood products, and it is even more water-resistant. It is very strong but placed outside, olive wood objects deteriorate rapidly from the sun, and other elements including attacking insects, and constant moisture.
